THE GOOD NEWS:
My (Magistra Martin's) last trip to
Italy (with 7 students and 2 parents) was so much fun
that I have decided to run another trip!
THE BAD NEWS:
Due to a injury to my back, I
will not be able to take students to Italy this
summer. The trips all require a great deal
of walking. As the head chaperone, I cannot, in all
good consciousness, take students on such a trip if there
is the slightest chance that I could not keep up with
them or that I will become incapacitated due to pain
during the trip.
This summer, I hope to take a
trip of my own to Italy as a dry run. If all
goes well, Mr. McCarron and I will be taking students
during the summer of 2007! By Spring 2006 I
should have an idea how strong my back has become.
Mr. McCarron (Bedwell Art
Teacher) and I (Magistra Martin) have selected a tour
entitled "Panorama Italiano". Even
though I've done this tour a number of times, we decided
to take this one because it seems to offer the most
"bang for the buck". Click on the link
below to see the details of the tour. Please note,
that we will be adding an additional day (in Rome).

WHO CAN TAKE THE
TRIP?
The trip will be open to all
High School Latin students. Middle School Latin
students are also welcome to come, but with a parent.
In addition to Latin students,
other students may apply to take this trip. They
must, however, be approved by Mr. McCarron and Miss
Martin. We don't feel comfortable taking students
we don't know.
WHAT WILL THE
DATES OF THE TRIP BE?
We have decided to apply for the
trip on the following dates: some time toward the
end of July. We will be back on or before August
1st. The exact dates will need to be cleared with the
travel agent before they are publicized.
RULE OF THUMB: NEVER visit
Italy during the month of August because many of the
shops and restaurants are closed for vacation..."chiuso
per feria!"!
WHEN CAN I FIND
OUT MORE?
Mr. McCarron and I will be announcing a meeting
date for this spring. Travelers who sign up
early usually can save money. Any student interested in
the trip must attend that meeting with a parent.
WHAT TRAVEL AGENT
WILL WE USE?
We will be using the student tour company ACIS
for this trip. I've had wonderful
experiences with this company and have used them for most of the
trips I've taken with students. Their business is student
travel and they do a wonderful job at it. Please
feel free to visit their web site at http://www.acis.com/. I
would never travel with another company! THEY ARE
FANTASTIC!
