Course Description: (5 credits)
A program of advanced studies in Latin literature is offered for honors
credit. These courses function much in the same way as an English literature class.
A variety of authors are read (including Ovid, Plautus, Pliny, and
Vergil) while historical backgrounds are studied in detail. The student is
responsible for accomplishing some independent research on related topics.
At the end of the year,
students will be asked to make a video tape
which reflects what they have done throughout
the year. Although some English is allowed
on this video tape, it will be primarily in
Latin, which they will write themselves and then
recite.
The course uses
audio-visual resources, computer programs and a
hands-on approach to learning.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of previous level.
