11/5/2019 Coffee with the Superintendent at 10 AM
The first Coffee with the Superintendent this year will provide an opportunity to discuss BHS' schedule.  We will be discussing next year's planned implementation of a Rotate and Drop schedule and the ongoing dialogue surrounding later start times for Somerset County high schools.  We hope you can join us in the Community Room at BHS on Tuesday, 11/5 @ 10 AM for this conversation.  

11/6/2019 Meet Kate Macy Ladd
Meet  Kate Macy Ladd the original owner of Natirar on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:30pm at the Peapack & Gladstone branch of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey.  Almost unknown today, Kate Macy Ladd of Natirar, a woman who ultimately became a very important 20th century medical philanthropist, will be introduced by Meryl Carmel, author of  “Finding Kate-The Unlikely Journey of 20th Century Healthcare Advocate Kate Macy Ladd.” 

Kate’s story is told through an informative PowerPoint lecture illustrated with more than fifty slides featuring Macy and Ladd family photographs from private collections. The author will be selling and signing copies of her book.

Build Little Al, an Allosaurus Dinosaur “Skeleton” with Pearl Observatory. Help rebuild this Jurassic dinosaur.  Be a paleontologist.  Feel a real dinosaur egg; hold dinosaur bones; and touch a dinosaur tooth. Ages 4-9 years. Free.  No sign-up is needed.

11/11/2019 Poetry Reading at the Peapack & Gladstone branch of the Somerset County Library system of NJ
Come hear Peapack & Gladstone’s own Thomas William Simpson, better known to Peapack & Gladstone residents as former Councilman Bill Simpson, read his original poetry at the Peapack & Gladstone branch of the SCLSNJ on Monday, November 11 at 7:00pm.

Simpson, who lives in Gladstone with his family, is the author/editor of over seven books. This is Bill's first foray into public poetry and it promises to be a lot of fun. Come join us.

Calling all high schoolers! Come and enjoy Blank Canvas, a choice of eight art workshops offered on 11/17 & 11/24 as a collaboration of Community in Crisis and ARTsee. The theme is ‘Mirror Images’ and offers students an opportunity to find expression and decompress through working with different forms of art media. No artistic talent required!

Come cheer with us! Bernardsville Youth Wrestling is looking for cheerleaders to add some PEP to their matches. Wrestling cheer is fun, fast-paced and full of spirit!  Students in grades K-8 are eligible with no prior experience necessary.

Practices will be on Tuesday evenings from 6:00PM - 7:30PM in the Bernards High School Cafeteria. There will be at least one match on the weekends. The season is from the end of November 2019 until February 2020.

1/7/2020 Camelback Ski Trip
The Bernardsville Recreation Department is a hosting 5 ski trips to Camelback for grades 9-12. Students will be picked up and dropped off at Bernards High School. The last day to register for transportation with Bernardsville Recreation is November 20th. Once registered for transportation through Community Pass you will receive an email with a username, password and directions to register with Camelback. The deadline to register with Camelback is November 22nd.

11/1/2019 BERNARDSVILLE RECREATION WRESTLING

Bernardsville Recreation will be holding registration for Wrestling (with the Raritan Valley Wrestling League) for all age groups on Tuesday, October 22nd and Thursday, October 24th, Bernards High School Cafeteria from 6:00-8:00 pm. This season's coaches will be available to answer any questions. Youth Wrestling Programs: Grades 5th-8th Youth Wrestling, Youth practices will be Monday and Wednesdays (6:00 pm–8:00pm), Midget Program: Grades 2nd-6th Midget practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:00 pm-8:00pm) and Novice Program: Grades K-2nd, Novice will meet Thursday nights (6:00 pm-7:30 pm). Volunteer coaches are also needed and all coaches must be Rutgers certified.
This group will compete in the Raritan Valley Youth Wrestling League and compete in dual meets and an End of Season tournament.

For more than twenty years, From The Top has been a popular radio program broadcast nationwide on National Public Radio.  Music in the Somerset Hills has the honor of hosting two editions of From The Top, which will be recorded at Morristown Presbyterian Church in front of a ‘live’ audience on Saturday, November 2 at 7:30 PM.  From The Top is about the best young musicians in this country, aged 8 to 18, and on this occasion most of the featured musicians will come from this part of the country.  The host will be the well-known pianist Peter Dugan, distinguished member of the faculty of the Juilliard School in New York.
