2010-2011 Budget

Election Information

Annual school district elections are held on the third Tuesday in April.  Each year, registered voters are asked to choose members of the Board of Education and cast ballots for the amount of money that must be raised through local taxation to support the proposed school budget for the coming year.

Information regarding The Somerset Hills school election and the District’s proposed budget is discussed at public Board of Education meetings. The public hearing on the budget will be held on March 24, 2010 at 7:30pm in the The  Community Room at Bernards H.S.

Voter Registration

To be eligible to vote:

Residents must be at least 18 years old;

Citizens of the United States;

Must have been living in the State and the County for at least 30 days;

Must have registered at least 21 days prior to the election.

Anyone already registered to vote in general elections 
may also vote in school elections.

According to the State Department of Elections, the last day to register to vote in the April 20 election, is March 30, 2010.

Voter registration applications are available in the main office at each school and at the Board of Education offices.  They can also be obtained by contacting:

Absentee Ballots

In New Jersey, any voter can now vote by Absentee Ballot for any election.
Voters no longer need a reason for an Absentee Ballot.

A voter may apply for an absentee ballot by completing an
Absentee Ballot Application and mailing the application to:

P.O. Box 3000
20 Grove St.
Somerville, NJ 08876

at least 7 days prior to the election.

A voter may also apply in person at the Somerset County Clerk’s Office
until 3:00pm, the day before the election.

The County Clerk cannot accept faxed copies of an Absentee Ballot Application since an original signature is required.

Absentee ballots must be completed for each election.
