BHS National Merit® $2500 Scholarship Winner

On May 8, 2024, this year’s National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners were announced. These Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Selected from Bernards High School was senior Trevor Sardis. He was judged to have a strong combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors who review the following: the academic record, including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®); contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the Finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official.

Last September, Dr. Scott Neigel announced the six National Merit Scholarship Competition Commended Students and two National Merit Scholarship Competition Semifinalists. “We are incredibly proud of Trevor for being named a National Merit Scholarship winner.  Trevor has earned this accomplishment through his hard work in the classroom, as well as his excellent leadership as the President of the Student Council and captain of the lacrosse team.  He is to be commended for this noteworthy achievement that caps an impressive high school career.”
