At the spring awards program of the New Jersey Association of Student Councils, Bernardsville Middle School was honored for their fundraising efforts. The event was held in Jackson, NJ, on May 29th, with over 3,200 middle and high school students in attendance.

Over the course of the 2023-2024 school year, BMS organized, publicized, and hosted three school fundraisers. In December, February, and April, the students held a variety of candy and candy gram fundraisers during all lunch periods. Each endeavor was highly successful, resulting in a combined total of $1,754 collected.

The monies were donated to Hugs for Brady, a charity selected by the New Jersey Association of Student Councils. The Hugs for Brady Foundation was established to help children battling cancer and to assist in research in the hopes of ultimately finding a cure for pediatric cancer.

“I am so proud of our BMS Student Council,” said Student Council Advisor Adriane Gash. “In addition to increasing the total funds raised from last year to this year, our students embraced the idea of what it means to give back, and to make a difference locally. They learned and modeled that a small action can indeed yield big results.”
