District Cleaning & Sanitization

Somerset Hills School District typically increases cleaning protocols in all schools during flu season.
In addition to regular cleaning protocols:
  • Handles, handrails and exit push bars on doors are disinfected every night
  • Gym equipment and locker rooms are disinfected every night
  • Electrostatic disinfection machines are used to clean specified areas nightly
  • Hydrogen peroxide fogging units are used to treat larger common areas
  • HVAC systems are disinfected weekly
  • All soap dispensers and hand sanitizing stations and are checked and filled daily
  • Additional cleaning takes place after every event
  • Additional disinfecting occurs when custodial staff is notified of illness in a particular classroom
  • In response to COVID-19 concerns:
  • Hydrogen peroxide fogging units are used on buses weekly, and bus drivers have been directed to wipe down their buses daily
  • Disinfectant wands were ordered, and will be used to disinfect technology devices once received.  Wipes were provided to each building to address concerns regarding shared technology and use of technology has been limited
  • Additional hand sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the district
  • District staff asked to vacate classrooms by 5 pm to ensure custodial access
