“Everyday Hero” for March!

Mary Tropp, a senior at Bernards High School, has been recognized by the school as the “Everyday Hero” for March!

Nominees for the monthly Everyday Hero Program are students who have a positive influence on the student body through exemplary qualities. Selected students inspire others, are responsible and respectable and have a commitment to peers and the school community. Students are nominated by one or more teachers, selected by the Everyday Hero committee and announced schoolwide by either Principal Scott Neigel, or Assistant Principal Mike Corbett.

Mary Tropp is the kind of person who has thought of everything before you asked your question. Intelligent, wise beyond her years, and extremely enthusiastic, Mary puts forth 110% with the intention of not only making any activity enjoyable and fruitful for herself, but for everyone she’s with. Basically, you ask her to jump and she’ll ask how high…and then will usually exceed that height with energy to spare. She’ll take that achievement, ask how it could’ve been better, and then will spread credit to all those who’ve helped her, as she is quite humble.

Despite her initial shyness, her infectious enthusiasm has awarded her friends in every circle she walks in. This combination has made her a natural leader, though she would never assume leadership without directive to do so. Such humility has made her sensitive to her surroundings and capable of fitting in wherever she goes. Towards her friends she is extremely thoughtful and encouraging. Towards those she is less familiar with, she offers her hand in friendship, with the hope of enjoying time spent doing… virtually anything! But what she especially enjoys is making music and teaching music, of which she has a deep passion for, following in her brother’s footsteps as a career choice. Mary is one in a million; a true friend, a scholar, a star pupil, and an unsung hero who wants for nothing but the best in others, for the good of all!
