Awarded with Academic Achievements
Dr. Scott Neigel, principal of Bernards High School, has announced that eight students have been recognized by the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. The following students were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Competition Commended Students: Brianna Ho, Kurt Hunziker, Joshua Kutakoff, Matthew Oliveira, Collin Schlosser, and Charles Vaccaro. Trevor Sardis and Evan Seker were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Competition Semifinalists, who will each have an opportunity to advance in the competition for over 7,000 Merit Scholarship awards.
Four students at Bernards High School earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs celebrate students' hard work in high school and showcase their strong academic performance. The academic honors for rural area, Black, Indigenous, and/or Latino students are an opportunity for students to share their strong academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs that are seeking to recruit diverse talent. The following three students were awarded the National Hispanic Recognition Award: Monserrat Gonzalez, Matthew Oliveria, and Sydney Solomon. Kayla Najera received the National African American Recognition Award, as well as the National Hispanic Recognition Award.
Additionally, Vanshika Gupta received a perfect score on her AP Computer Science Principles exam. “We’re thrilled to celebrate our students and acknowledge them for the great work they’ve been doing,” said Dr. Neigel. These BHS students will be recognized by Dr. Brian Brotschul, Superintendent, and the Board of Education members at the October 18th Board of Education Meeting.
